Remote TypeWell Transcriber

Job Summary: 

At SignGlasses we provide interpreting services, captioning services, and platform scheduling services specialized for business, engineering, education, medical and healthcare, legal, and more. SignGlasses' mission is to give humans the power to communicate and form connections by bridging the gap between accessibility wherever and whenever needed.

We are seeking like-minded and passionate individuals to join our team as remote TypeWell transcribers. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Providing meaning-for-meaning transcribing services for individuals to ensure accessibility

• Provide consumer(s) with a final, edited transcript 

• Provide immediate meaning-for-meaning translation of spoken English into text so the consumer can read the text on a laptop computer screen or other display devices as it is created

• Assist consumer(s) with concurrent participation in the communication process by voicing questions or comments that the consumer has entered into the system

• Maintaining high-quality standards for TypeWell services

• Maintain a working knowledge of the subject matter to enable effective transcription for all required disciplines

• Work with the SignGlasses staff to resolve any technical issues and any issues around access to materials for writers and/or consumer

• Reliable and excellent attention to detail

• Maintain current backups of real-time dictionaries and user profiles

• Qualified TypeWell transcriber in good standing

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of previous experience transcribing in professional settings

• Experience with team captioning

• Comprehensive knowledge of the English language, including grammatical structures, syntax, spelling vocabulary, and punctuation

• Experience and possession of appropriate software transcribing public and/or live-streamed events with projected captions

• Proficiently write in real-time in a conflict-free manner using punctuation and sustaining accuracy in fast-paced stressful situations

• Typing speed of at least 120+ wpm, with no errors

• Must hold TypeWell Transcriber Software license

• Be familiar with and adhere to the ATSP Code of Conduct
  

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Passing company assessment 

• Operating systems: 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7—or MacOS with special software

• Stenographic machine and equipment with appropriate software

• Dedicated confidential workspace
